Inspired by the fashions created by Mariano Fortuny, these fine silk garments are hand dyed and hand pleated in a multi step process. First fabric is dyed a base color, which can involve being dyed and overdyed in a variety of colors. The fabric may be pleated at this step, or pleated and treated further. Some are discharge dyed and overdyed to create a depth of colors not available through commercial processes. Pleats are set permanently with a heat and chemical process. Then the garments are created. Below are some garments available for sale. Please email to inquire about availability. Because of the clinging nature of the pleats, these garments pleasingly fit a variety of figure shapes and sizes. Although fragile, the pleats will last a lifetime or more if properly maintained. Greek Goddess

Shown above: Silk satin, hand dyed in a gradation from blue, to turquoise, to green. Gown is held at the shoulders with glass buttons. The hem is weighted with glass beads. Gown is fitted at the neck by drawing up hand twisted cording. Approximately 45" from shoulder to hem.

Above: Shown here in a two tone silk habotai. The fabric was dyed fucshia, then overdyed with red. This creates pleats that are red, but open as you move to reveal the fucshia color underneath. Gown is fitted at the neck by drawing up hand twisted cording. Approximately 55" from shoulder to hem.

Above: Fashioned from hand dyed silk satin. Daring plunging neckline, dips low in back as well. Can be made less daring upon request. Ties on with hand twisted cording. Approximately 57" from shoulder to hem.

Athena

Above: Silk satin top has been dyed, discharged and overdyed. Colors range from purple, to moss, to maize, to russet. It brings to mind the interior of an abalone shell. The hem has been weighted with glass beads in coordinating colors. This top is fitted at the neck by drawing up hand twisted cording. Can be worn over either the Classic or Venus gowns, or with something from your own wardrobe. Approximately length from shoulders varies from 17 inches at sides, to 36 inches in front.
